New Wednesday Midday Bible Study and Eucharist

ree

The Wednesday Bible Study Group held its inaugural this last Wednesday 17 10:30 am, and we are very excited about this new program at St. Martin's.

As the Monday group focuses on the Lectionary gospel for the coming week, the Wednesday group has decided to study individual books of the Bible in depth and in their entirety-- including the material that is not covered in the lectionary.

The last 10 minutes of each class will end with the Liturgy of the Holy Communion in the chapel for those who wish to attend. Our discussion will also serve as the Liturgy of the Word for the Holy Communion to follow at 11:45 am.

We are beginning by taking a deep dive into the Gospel of Mark, the first of all the Canonical Gospels to be written. As well as discussions about the stories in the text itself, we will explore questions like:

What is the focus of this particular book?

What do we know about its context? about its author or authors?

What can this book say to us today in our context?

How does the story just read related to other Biblical scriptures?

We suggest that each member use a New Revised Standard Version Study Bible--

if you do not have one, please email Mother Leslie, LScoopmire@stmartinschurch.org  and we will get you one free of charge--it's an important item for everyone to have available!

Join us on Wednesdays at 10:30 am for this Book Study and Eucharist.

All who are available are invited!
