Chocolate for Lent

You are invited to indulge in faith, fellowship and chocolate this Lenten season!

Our Wednesday evening Lenten series begins Feb. 24 and runs through March 24. Our program is based on the Oscar-nominated movie “Chocolat” starring Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche, a fun film with a lot of Christian messages to discover.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Bring your family, friends and neighbors to St. Martin’s for a Shrove Tuesday pancake supper.  St. Martin’s Student Ministries and St. Martin’s Men’s Group will prepare and serve a sweet dinner treat for all attending.

Join us Tuesday, Feb. 16, anytime between 5 and 8 p.m. Donations are not required, but happily accepted to cover the cost of food. Please let us know you’re coming by signing up in Park Hall.

Confirmation Classes Begin Jan. 10

Join us as we embark on a faith journey Sunday, Jan. 10 at 4 p.m. in Packwood Library.  Our Confirmation classes are designed to help you explore your beliefs and your role in our church community.  The class is open to doubting teens, new adult members and cradle Episcopalians.

Join us for our Advent Pageant

Star-1The children and youth of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church invite everyone to our annual Advent Pageant Sunday, Dec. 20 during the 10:15 service.

“One Night in Bethlehem” features a group of weary travelers who unexpectedly finds themselves in the little town of Bethlehem on a very special night.

Along with our dramatic presentation, several students will also be featured as solo musicians on the piano, cello and violin throughout the service.

We hope you’ll join us for this special Advent presentation.

Sign up now for Advent Pageant

Children of all ages and all talents are invited to be a part of our annual Advent Pageant.  The pageant will be presented Sunday, Dec. 20 during our 10:15 service.  Rehearsals begin Saturday, Dec. 5.  Sign up today at the Christian Formation Information Station in Park Hall to be part of the fun.

Advent Event: Journey to Bethlehem

Star-1Advent is a season of preparation, hope and great possibilities.  We’ll mark the beginning of this wondrous season with a special Journey to Bethlehem at our annual Advent Event Sunday, Nov. 29 from 9 – 10 a.m. in Park Hall.

When you arrive, you’ll receive your passport and tickets to explore holiday traditions from around the world.  Fun arts & crafts, delicious treats and even a little holiday shopping will be on your travel agenda. All ages will have a great time.

So follow the star and join us at St. Martin’s as we prepare for the birth of Christ!

On Nov. 15, several members of St. Martin’s Student Ministries Youth Group got together to bag the coats collected in our coat drive for St. Martin’s day. Ellie Ecker, Gina Garbo, Lindsey Peters, Brian Peters, Wayne Peters and Matthew Greenbaum, led by the youth group leader Sean Parker, bagged up 137 coats contributed by St. Martin’s parishioners. We prepared them for Kurt Warner’s Winter Warm-Up.

“The coat drive, I think, was a great success,” Sean said. “I will be taking them to Warner’s Winter Warm-Up donation site at Chesterfield City Hall tomorrow (Monday).” Read the rest of this entry »
