walk

St. Martin’s second annual Water for Sudan Walkathon was held Saturday, May 2.  Nearly 60 people took to the streets of Ellisville in an effort to bring clean water to villages in Africa.

Walkers paid a registration fee and collected pledges for the event.  They could choose to walk one, three or five mile paths through the neighborhoods near the church.

Funds raised from this event will go directly to the Diocese of Lui in the Sudan to help build water wells in villages there.  Proceeds from this year’s walk are still being collected and counted.

Last year’s event raised more than $18,000 — the amount needed to build one well.

Thanks to Beth Buehler and everyone on this year’s MDG committee for their work on this great event!
